Once again on the subject of points: I have just received a message that I have to wait an hour after completing a task before points can be awarded again. Thanks for the effort to find a solution.

I lost one point and would like to know how that happened. And I'm sure there will be questions in the future about forgotten points.

I noticed the same thing earlier today, and I put in the request. Unfortunately it won't be quick, but it will be done.

This I could fix myself.

Why are "thumbs-up" like emojis now arriving on every post ?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

But it seems to be happening on virtually every post - see Si_875. Is someone "liking" him posting NO to a question ?

I agree.

It is not intentional :) When you install a "mod", a package then all of its contents will be present. In this case, the emojis were reinstalled and with that came the new feature.

The same thing does not apply to Karma points (our point system). It was universally disliked by SMF users so it was completely removed from the forum and now we have to re-assemble it piece by piece. Hence the lack of point logs at the moment.

It can be disabled. That said, I've used this feature for many years on other forums and happen to like it.

You're confusing the "Like" button for an actual like. None of the posts in that thread have been liked.

Here's an example of a post that has been liked: https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/news-information-and-feedback/we-are-back-sort-of/msg663692/#msg663692

How do we modify a puzzle heading when it has been solved ? I don't see a "modify" option any more.

Ignore this - I've just found out

I think we have a further problem:
There are many old puzzles where the pictures are not visible but which have an attachment link in the first post. So far I could make the pictures visible again by clicking on the attachment link, so I was able to download the picture and modify the post in terms of deleting the old attachment and adding the downloaded picture.
Now it seems that the connection to the old picture has gone. See for example: https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/2009-37/solved-pj246-fiat-1100-coupe-ghia. When you click on the attachment link you just get "File not found."
Is there any chance to recover the picture files?

Yes, I noticed this as well. As we moved to a new server the old photos have not been transferred. Our priority now is to get Fedor back on the site and then we'll look at other problems. Both of us are on holiday so it slows things down a bit.

I just sent a note to Fedor, he can log in again.

I was attempting a puzzle of BERTRAND's, a French buggy called What's It 2, I wasn't sure whether I had solved it to his satisfaction, and since he's been away for a few days (en vacances ?) I checked again - and it's disappeared! Not in the Pros section or in Solved.

Any ideas ?

Please ignore my stupidity. The puzzle is now in the Solved section. All is well with the world.

I've had problems posting images in a reply. (See gte823 in the Pros). I worked out that you have to use the "quick edit" function, I open my saved images on my desktop, resized the photo as appropriate, but it still appeared on the thread as a small image. Then somehow it appeared twice in a larger size without me apparently doing anything.

Is there a step-by-step guide for children and old men?

Thanks for that. I was thinking about sending him a PM myself after I read what he posted in one of his puzzles - I sense that he was expecting the puzzle to be more difficult to solve. I takes a while to realise just how good some members are, either with a massive image database which is subdivided into types/categories, or with the knowledge to know which sites to visit.

Now I know what a Polar Supervee is, I found plenty of images and information on the net. It's all there if you know where to look.

From grandpa to grandpa:
I use Paint for image editing. Once the size has been adjusted, I insert the result into the reply using the 'click or drag' function. It works perfectly. Even I can do it ;-)

Thanks . That's how I used to do it with the old server. Somehow when I click the revised size it wants to revert to the previous size. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
