Bingo! A Mercedes 300 W 186 from Lamperhoff, built between 1951 and 1957. Good things come to those who wait.
This was a really difficult puzzle, because Lamperhoff isn't really a typical manufacturer of hearses. This model for a Dortmund funeral director may well have been the only funeral car they ever made. But I don't know for sure, I don't even have an exact year of manufacture.
